Open Telemetry overview
Open Telemetry (OTel) is a vendor-neutral open-source Observability framework for instrumenting, generating, collecting, and exporting telemetry data such as traces, metrics, and logs. SixthSense Observability developers can provide an efficient and standardize way to visualize and analyse telemetry data to enhance Observability capabilities of applications.
The primary goal of OTel is to provide vendor neutral ways of application instrumentation.
There are two ways in exporting telemetry data to SixthSense i.e directly from the service and/or via a collector. The following diagram displays these two ways of exporting data.
